National Works Agency (NWA) reopens main road between Chovey and Clermont
published: Wednesday | September 6, 2006

The national Works Agency (NWA) has reopened the main road between Chovey and Clermont in St. Mary, which was closed for two weeks.

The roadway was closed to vehicular traffic, after a bridge was taken out of service, because of significant damage to a section of the deck.

The roadway was slated to be closed for one month, but has been reopened ahead of schedule, following the replacement of the badly deteriorated wooden section of the bridge with metal deck.

The bridge, which is located in the community of Georgia, has been a source of concern and was replaced by the NWA at a cost of just under $4 million.
