The Editor, Sir:
On Sunday I had the pleasure of seeing the wonderful play called 'Maskarade' staged by the Jamaica Youth Theatre (JYT) at the Little Little Theatre.
From the programme provided, the JYT is the performing arm of the Schools' Drama Festival comprising largely students who had participated in last year's festival. The presentation of 'Maskarade' is adequate confirmation of the continued relevance of the Schools' Drama Festival to Jamaica's cultural development.
It is great to see young people involved in fine-quality theatre. The outstanding performance of 'Maskarade' on Sunday evening reminded me of the 1970s when similar productions would come out of the Caribbean Thespians and the Jamaica School of Drama.
This production was colourful, energetic and inspiring. Congra-tulations to the organizers, director and production team for an evening well spent. The performers were excellent and the audience enjoyed the production immensely.
I am extremely proud of these young people. When I saw the high- quality work coming out of this young group, it makes me feel that the future of Jamaica's theatre is indeed in good hands. Well done Jamaica Youth Theatre.
