The Editor, Sir:
Once again, Jamaica must express gratitude to Michael Lee Chin for his tremendous investment in the growth, development and prosperity of the country. His latest contribution is, as he puts it, 'a social investment' of a $155 million project , building and equipping a School of Nursing for 800 students to be trained at Northern Caribbean University (NCU).
I, as honorary president of the Manchester Chamber of Commerce and one who adopted Mandeville as my home some 40 years ago, who many years ago was also a beneficiary of a Seventh-day Adventist nursing training programme in the U.S.A., which opened a new world of opportunity to me, say thank you for making possible this most important aspect of education to fulfil the dreams of many for a more productive, useful life.
I would invite the people of Mandeville and the parish of Manchester to join the Manchester Chamber of Commerce, a body of voluntary civic minded persons, to help to achieve your 'vision' for the parish. We have the interest and plans but are in need of more committed support and welcome all workable ideas to make it happen.
I am, etc.,
JEAN B. ANDERSON (Mrs). J.P.
