Serious family planning needed
published: Thursday | September 14, 2006

THE EDITOR, Sir:

As we begin another school year, we are told that a number of our schools are bursting at the seams. We are also being told that new classrooms and new schools will be built. At the same time we are hearing parents cannot afford the high cost-sharing fees. These are all perennial problems that need to be aggressively addressed.

Mr. Editor, it is my opinion that the root cause of most of our educational problems are intricately tied in with the spiralling birthrate. With so many birth control devices available today, there are too many children having children. There are too many irresponsible people having four and upwards children. The Government cannot continue to turn a blind eye to this problem. It needs to speedily enact laws which will seek to enforce compulsory sterilization after a person has had three or four children. This should be made to apply to both males and females.

I am, etc.,

A.S. JACKSON

Chapelton
