Senator Noel Monteith, State Minister in the Ministry of Education and Youth, has dismissed claims that the William Knibb High School sixth form was ordered closed by the ministry.
A radio report on Tuesday stated that 30 A-level and pre-university students from Trelawny were being forced to find new school places after the sudden discontinuation of the sixth form programme because of a lack of demand.
But Senator Monteith said the programme is up and running at the school.
"William Knibb still has a sixth form and they can still admit students," said Senator Monteith.
Ironed out
The principal for William Knibb was unavailable for a comment but an administrator at the school said things have been ironed out, as the Education Ministry contacted the institution and informed them that they should proceed with the sixth form programme.
Meanwhile, Senator Monteith said students have now settled in at school, with the exception of a few institutions.
