Cindie Russell of Campion College is a shining example of what hard work and dedication can forge, when she received nine ones in the 2006 Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) examination.
"I was slightly surprised, it didn't sink in fully but I was screaming when I got the results," she told The Gleaner.
Cindie said her parents, Milton and Veronica Russell, God and her two sisters, who are teachers, played a key role in her success.
Eye on the prize
She has her eyes set on a career in the accounting field and is currently in sixth form at Campion College, where she is pursuing management of business, economics, accounting and communication studies at the Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examinations (CAPE) level.
When not studying, Cindie, a member of the Portmore Gospel Assembly, enjoys reading, sleeping and dancing at church.
The 16-year-old said she was concerned that today's youth are not focused and are distracted by music, television and parties.
She got ones for mathematics, English language, English literature, principles of business, accounts, history, physics, biology and information technology.
