The Editor, Sir:
It's deeply unfortunate that the writer has found only negative events that have made him regret the Jamaica that he had left for 15 years in the letter 'Stand up for Jamaica' published Tuesday September 19, written by Patrice of Atlanta, GA.
However, if he had really compared the Jamaica of 15 years ago and Jamaica today he would have seen the many positive developments in the country. One can never compare Jamaica to the United States, the latter being 'developed' and the former considered "developing",
technologically advanced
I wish to point out to him that we are the most technologically advanced Caribbean country. There is a much improved highway system, major improvements at our airport and port facilities; education that is more accessible to everyone, and so many other improvements.
While we do have problems I wish to point out that The United States also has similar problems in its political development and in some cities crime is just as rampant.
I am proud to be a Jamaican
I am, etc.,
