MORANT BAY, St. Thomas:

Ground was broken for a J$42-million renovation project for the Yallahs Basic School and Resource Centre, on Wednesday, in Yallahs, St. Thomas.

It comes as part of a US$15-million joint project between the Government of Jamaica and the Caribbean Development Bank (GOJ/CDB) under the Enhance-ment of Basic Schools Project across the island.

Contractors

The contract is being awarded to Alfrasure Structures Limited. According to Jacinth Brown, director of projects in the Ministry of Education and Youth, the exercise will help to heighten awareness of the project.

Participating in the ground breaking were Custos Marcia Bennett, Principal Elenor Dean-Gayle and Lauriston Wilson, director of project management and technical services in the Education Ministry.

The project is estimated to be completed in 12 weeks.
