Positive review for Queen's Park
published: Saturday | September 23, 2006

ST. GEORGE'S, Grenada, CMC:

GRENADA'S TOP Cricket World Cup official is buoyed by the positive review given to the Queen's Park Stadium by the International Cricket Council and Global Cricket Corporation inspection team.

Roy O'Neale, managing director and CEO of Grenada's Local Organising Committee, said the team inspecting the facility confirmed headway was being made.

"We expected to be ready. In fact, right now we are very much on track and probably even slightly ahead of schedule so we are expecting to be just about complete," O'Neale said recently after the team, headed by venue development director Don Lockerbie concluded their visit.

"So far the trip has been quite a success. They are very pleased especially with the progress of the stadium and in fact a couple of weeks ago Mr. Lockerbie made a comment on that.

"We see that there are two sections of the stadium which are now covered and within the next two to three weeks, probably the entire structure will be covered." Grenada will host second round, Super Eight matches, running from April 10-20 during next year's Cricket World Cup.
