Man faces court for stolen vehicles
published: Monday | September 25, 2006

WESTERN BUREAU:

The 54-year-old mechanic, who was arrested in connection with a stolen motor vehicle ring that was busted by the Hanover police on Friday, is to appear before the Lucea Resident Magistrate's Court today.

The accused man, Caldon Campbell, of Lot 171 Haughton Grove in Hanover, is facing 32 counts of unlawful possession of property.

The charges were levelled against him after 18 stolen vehicles and a large assortment of motor vehicle parts, as well as accessories, were found at his residence.

The 13 Toyota Hiace buses and five motor cars were removed from his residence which investigators believed was being used as a scrap yard.

Mr. Campbell is also facing breaches of the Copyright Act, as several bootleg DVDs were found on the premises.

Reports are that the police were directed to Haughton Grove following the arrest of two men, who were held about 7:00 a.m. on Friday with a stolen bus in Ramble, Hanover. The vehicle was reported stolen in Kingston on Thursday night.
