IRAQ: Judge removes Saddam from court
published: Tuesday | September 26, 2006

HUSSEIN

BAGHDAD, Iraq (AP):

The chief judge expelled Saddam Hussein from his genocide trial yesterday and the ex-president's defence team boycotted the session, accusing the court of violating judicial procedures.

More Kurds testified about chemical weapons attacks against them two decades ago as the chaotic trial continued with court-appointed attorneys despite protests from the defendants.

Saddam and six co-defendants have been on trial since Aug. 21 for their roles in a 1987-1988 crackdown against Kurdish guerrillas.
