Porus, unbeaten after two games, will be among the 12 teams gunning for maximum three points when action resumes in the 2006 ISSA/Pepsi/JN daCosta Cup this afternoon with six games - two games in Zone G and another four in Zone L, starting at 3:30 p.m.
The games down for contention are: Porus away to Christiana and Holmwood at home to Knox College in Zone G; and in Zone L, Happy Grove will be at home to Port Antonio, St. Thomas away to Yallahs, Fair Prospect at home to Seaforth and Paul Bogle at home to Titchfield.
With runaway Zone G group leader Spaldings, which have maximum nine points from three games, gettinging the afternoon off, the Porus team, on four points from two games, will be gunning for all three points which would take them within two points of Spaldings. With Christiana struggling and without a point after two games, that feat does not seem too difficult.
The game between Holmwood, which have three points from three games; and Knox, pointless after two outings, have nothing to suggest more than token excitement. Already with a victory under their belt, Holmwood will start favourites.
In the Zone L games, group leaders Fair Prospect with 10 points from five games, are favoured to increase their tally against Seaforth, which have four points from three games - one win, one draw and one defeat. However, if Seaforth can reproduce the form shown in their 3-1 win against Paul Bogle last Saturday, they could well spring a surprise.
In another Zone L game, an exciting match-up is anticipated between Happy Grove and Port Antonio, who are locked on nine points each after four games. Both teams appear equally matched in terms of their offensive and defensive record and there seems to be very little bit between them.
The game between St. Thomas, on seven points from five games, and Yallahs, who are still without a point after five games, should provide St. Thomas with their third win of the season. Titchfield, with nine points from five games, should get the better of newcomer Paul Bogle, which have three points from four games.
