Naggo Head miss out on advantage
published: Tuesday | September 26, 2006

Rasbert Turner, Gleaner Writer

St. Catherine:

For the second week running Naggo Head Football Club failed to capitalise on numerical advantage and ended up playing to a nil-all draw.

In their previous game against Boys' Town, Naggo Head had at one point a two-man, then a one-man advantage owing to expul-sions, but still ended 0-0.

On Sunday their encounter at Ferdie Neita Park against Tivoli Gardens saw Tivoli being reduced to 10 men in the 22nd minute after Steve Green was ejected by referee Ricardo Sailsman for dissent.

Despite the sending off, the game continued at an even pace and on the resumption things did not change as both teams continued to play kick and run football.

Best chance

Dennis Clayton of Naggo Head made several saves for his team, but the best chance of the match came in the 85th minute when Walter Boyd kicked just wide after beating his marker.

Calvert Fitzgerald of Tivoli said it was a good game, but his team needs to score goals.

"We played well with the 10 men. However, we are just not scoring the goals and to win matches we need to do this."

Harold Thomas of Naggo Head said his team is not playing the way they were trained.

"The midfielders are not giving the forwards enough balls as we do in training and players will have to own up to their responsibilities."

Several patrons voiced their dissatisfaction at the constant nil-all results from Naggo Head.

The result took both teams to two points from three games.
