GUYANA: Preparations advanced for Parliament's opening
published: Wednesday | September 27, 2006

GEORGETOWN, Guyana (CMC):

Preparations are advanced for the opening of Parliament tomorrow, even as the country awaits a court ruling challenging the proclamation by President Bharrat Jagdeo to convene the ninth sitting of the National Assembly.

Yesterday the Clerk of the National Assembly, Sherlock Isaacs, issued the Order Paper for the first session of the Ninth National Assembly of Guyana to be held tomorrow at 2:00 p.m. in the Parliament Chamber, Public Buildings, Georgetown.

Isaacs is expected to meet with the new Members of Parliament today to brief them on their entitlements and on other matters relating to the rules and regulation of the National Assembly.
