Judge amends ex-deacon's bail order
published: Wednesday | September 27, 2006

Former church deacon, 46-year-old Donovan Jones, remained in custody yesterday because when he was granted bail on Monday, no order was made for him to surrender his travel documents.

When the matter was mentioned in the Home Circuit Court yesterday, Justice Marva McIntosh who granted Jones bail, said she was varying the bail conditions.

In addition to the conditions which were imposed on Monday, the judge ordered that Jones should surrender his travel documents to the registrar of the Supreme Court.

Stop order

The judge placed a stop order on Jones so that he cannot leave the island.

Jones and three male teenagers are charged with five counts of trafficking in persons.

The allegations are that in April and May the four sexually molested a 14-year-old schoolgirl and video-recorded the incidents.

They have all been granted bail and are to return to court on October 5.
