Jamaica Gleaner Letters
published: Sunday | October 1, 2006

Letter of the day - We need to save more!
At present, young people - who make up the majority of the citizens in this country today - are complaining about the lack of job opportunities or the low salaries being paid at the workplace.

Governance beyond excuses
The stewardship of our new Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller has come up for serious debate in recent times. Mrs. Simpson Miller has stoutly defended her efforts at governance, passionately explaining away one mishap after another.

Struggles of Christians
I refer to an article entitled 'Three Cheers for Freedom' written by Ian Boyne in The Sunday Gleaner of September 18, 2006. While I agree generally with the main tenet of the article, I am somewhat puzzled by parts thereof.

Look more long-term, PM!
While I understand the Prime Minister's concern for the poor, a six-month work programme will not begin to address urban blight and desperation that have plagued the country for decades.

Go ahead - for a clean country
It amazes me that so many Jamaicans living overseas are fussing themselves about the beautification programme that the Prime Minister announces for Jamaica.
