With the help of international Pulse model, Nadine Willis, and a
mischievous Chinese 'dragon', Carl Chang, the managing director of Puma Jamaica revealed the new Puma retail store at its opening party held on Tuesday, at the store, in Tropical Plaza, Constant Spring Road.
After Willis clipped away the ribbon, a traditional Chinese dragon pranced around the room in honour of the store's opening - a testament to Chang's Chinese heritage. The guests then poured into the outlet and proceeded to indulge in their sneak peek at the bevy of Puma branded wares, many of which were making their Jamaican debut. Shoes, clothing, sports equipment, gymbags, handbags, hats and even some jewel-encrusted belts were among the items which held the attention of the specially invited few. Collections, such as the Puma Ferrari line were among the finest attractions, and likewise, management expect it will be a big hit with the Jamaican consumers, just as Puma's Jamaica line.
High-end items
As explained by Gavin Smith, marketing assistant for Puma Jamaica, the items sold at the outlet are more 'high end' than what might be found at a multi-brand store, such as Western Sports, which also happens to be under Carl Chang's control. Chang also revealed plans to eventually expand operations to the rest of the island, but for now, Puma Jamaica is focusing on the Tropical Plaza outlet, where Jamaican consumers can access the best of what the Puma brand has to offer. The store was officially opened to the public last Thursday.
Among those chosen to preview the contents of the Puma retail outlet were Pulse model, Carla Campbell; Tommy Cowan and wife, Carlene Davis; Zachary Harding; Reggae Boy Cornel Chin-Sue; former Olympians, Grace Jackson, Juliet Cuthbert and Juliet Campbell; recording artistes, Tanya Stephens and Mr. Vegas; Renee Wong of Red Stripe; Chesna Haber of J. Wray and Nephew; and KIA/WorldTron boss, Dwight Moore.
