  • Gleaner are football champs

    THE GLEANER Company are the 2006 Business House All-island football champions following their 4-2 penalty shoot-out victory over St. Ann Bauxite at Discovery Bay playing field last weekend.

    The shoot-out came after the teams played to a 1-1 draw after full and extra time.

    The Gleaner, who also won the Knockout title and Corporate Area Champion of Champions crown earlier in the season, found themselves trailing early in the second half when St. Ann Bauxite's Leroy Harris scored a beautiful free kick in the 63rd minute. Jason Brown equalised for The Gleaner from the penalty spot in the 76th minute.

    Fitzroy Pickett, Oniel Morrison, Sean Fraser and Fabian Nethersole scored for The Gleaner in the shoot-out. While Kemar Brown and Damion Bennett where the only players strike for St. Ann Bauxite.

  • Inter-Bank Football League continues

    THE 2006 Norman Goodison Inter-Bank Football League continues today with three matches.

    BNS tackle FCIB at 1:00 p.m. and BoJ play JNBS at 3:00 at the NWC field, Mona. The other game pits RBTT against NCB at the Old Men's Hockey Field at 3:00.

    Last week, RBTT whipped FCIB 5-1, JNBS defeated NWC 3-0 and BNS stopped BoJ 3-1.

  • Tank-Weld five-a-side

    THE TANK-WELD Business House Five-A-Side Knockout football competition continues tomorrow and Tuesday with four matches. The winners will advance to the quarter-finals on Thursday.

    On Monday, Jamaica Broilers take on Sun Island, Wackenhut oppose Gibson/Spectrum & Insurance, Tropicair 'A' tackle B.H. Paints and Courts battle Agriventures.

    In Tuesday's action, BNS take on Western Sports, Modern Windows & Roof entertain KFC, Hilton Kingston hotel face Tropicair Limited and Grace Foods aim at BoJ.

  • NCB rout C&W

    NCB 'A' registered the biggest margin of victory in last week's round of matches in the Business House Netball Association League (BHNA) when they whipped Cable & Wireless 55-16.

    In other games, Grace Kennedy defeated Heart Trust 28-5, Courts stopped NWC 'B' 26-22, JMMB edged Wray & Nephew 23-19, NHT got by Air Jamaica 41-10 and Wisynco clipped BOJ 32-21.

  • Clarendon BH final tomorrow

    MANDEVILLE:

    JUICI PATTIES and Simpson's Enterprise will clash in tomorrow's final of the Clarendon Business House football competition starting at 10 :30 a.m. at Jamalco Sports Club. The competition is jointly sponsored by Epic Hardware and Mack Chem.

    Juici Patties secured their spot following a 3-0 shutout of Lion Heart last Sunday. Oral Kerr was the hero, scoring twice. Simpson's Enterprise had defeated Carry Shell 3-1 in their semi-final the previous week.
