LETTER OF THE DAY - With a contrite heart, Bro Andrew wept ...
published: Monday | October 2, 2006

THE EDITOR, Sir:

AND IT came to pass that as Father God's eyes looked to and fro the earth searching for bright, energetic and decent young people to help transform Jamrock, lo He saw a young man labouring in his field. And the man was head and shoulders above many and comely to behold. And yea, God called this young man, Andrew, and named him Andrew, the Holiman. He was to be a peacemaker and a light to a darkened constituency. And many embraced him, both Laboursites and Powersites. And he went about doing good.

And in the ninth month of the 2006th Year of our Lord, behold tension brewed in his constituency. And the Chief Priest and Elders staged a Peace March. And they came with olive branch and turtle dove. But when the Beloved disciple heard of the march, he was livid. And he gathered his followers unto him saying, "Let us stand our ground, for we will not walk with those who eat and drink with the Powersites, for they are unclean. Their hands are soaked in innocent blood and The King has turned a blind eye to our plight." And they held placards and set their faces as a flint.

Utterly flabbergasted

And as the Chief Priest and Elders, along with some brave Powersites (for it was Laboursite territory) drew nigh, the Beloved disciple became furious. And his anger rose against the Chief Priest and refused to accept the extended olive branch. And his actions confused and bewildered the people, both Laboursites and Powersites. And the Chief Priest and Elders were utterly flabbergasted. And the people reasoned in their hearts, "How can these thing be? Howbeit that our Beloved Andrew could disrespect this Man of God and his office? Isn't this the same Andrew who preached the message of peace and vowed to do all he can to maintain the peace? What on earth or elsewhere has come to torment him?"

A deep disappointment

And darkness fell upon the land, for surely the light had dimmed from Bro. Andrew and his words lost merit and flavour. And the people returned to their homes wounded and stupefied. And the news spread like wildfire and even the uncommitted strangers were disappointed, for many had hoped he would be one of the chosen few to help transform Jamrock.

And it came to pass that early the following morning the press was summoned. And behold the scribes from many media were present. And there seated among them was the zealous and passionate disciple, Andrew. His face was ashen as though he sat up all night and ate the bread of sorrows. And his countenance was as one who saw the Holy Ghost. And he opened his mouth and spoke as a man with a broken spirit and a contrite heart. And Andrew wept. And he poured out his soul in repentance and Father God forgave him. For though he fell short of the glory, he rose like a true Big Man.

Albeit ye who are more spiritual, pray for Bro. Andrew. Pray ye also for Bro. James and Bro. Delano, for they too have a heart that Father God can use to transform Jamrock.

I am, etc.,
