Dwayne Lewis, the man who allegedly stabbed to death his child's mother and her female friend, was remanded in custody when he appeared before Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey, yesterday.

Lewis, who is from Taylor Land, Bull Bay, is charged with the murders of 20-year-old Candice Williams and Phoebe Myrie, 22, who were found dumped in a pit on June 28.

When the matter came before the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court, yesterday, the court was told that the post mortem report was still outstanding. The court was also informed that the Crown had collected several statements from witnesses concerning the murders.

Double murder

After hearing this information, RM Pusey set October 20 as the trial date.

According to allegations, Lewis allegedly murdered and dumped the bodies of Williams and Myrie into a pit. He reportedly borrowed cement from some residents in the area and used it to seal the pit.

The police report that on June 27, Lewis and another relative made a missing person's report to the Bull Bay Police Station saying that he had not seen Williams since June 24.

The bodies (sustaining stab wounds) of the women were found a day later in a pit in Lewis' yard after residents complained of a foul odour. Lewis was held on August 28 and charged last month.
