PHILADELPHIA (Reuters):
THE PHILADELPHIA Eagles exploded for 24 second-half points in a 31-9 rout of the Green Bay Packers on Monday night, quarterback Donovan McNabb leading the way with two touchdown passes and a pair of runs into the end zone.
Three Dave Rayner field goals, including a 54-yarder, had staked the Packers to 9-7 halftime lead but the Eagles took off after the break, scoring on their first four possessions to improve to 3-1 while Green Bay slipped to 1-3.
McNabb scored Philadelphia's opening touchdown on a six-yard run and their last on a 15-yard scamper, rushing for a two touchdowns in a single game for the first time in his career.
In between, McNabb connected on touchdown strikes to Greg Lewis, completing 16-of-30 pass for 288 yards.
Green Bay quarterback Brett Favre has saved some of his best performances for Monday night games, but the loss to the Eagles will not be remembered as one of them.
Head injury
The 36-year-old completed just 22-of-44 passes for 205 yards and a pair of interceptions before leaving the game late in the fourth quarter with a minor head injury.
Green Bay has now lost nine straight in Philadelphia, a drought stretching back to 1962 when the iconic Vince Lombardi was the Packers coach.
Both teams played without first choice running backs.
Ahman Green missed the game for the Packers with a hamstring strain while Philadelphia's Brian Westbrook was sidelined with a knee injury.
