No Problem tops Port Antonio Marlin tournament
published: Sunday | October 8, 2006

Kwesi Mugisa, Staff Reporter

NO PROBLEM coasted away with top honours at the 43rd Port Antonio Marlin Tournament as their total of four marlin tagged and released could not be surpassed on the final day of competition at the Old Port Antonio Marina on Friday.

However, Intrepid was hot on their heels and put on an impressive last-day showing to tag and release three marlin.

The boat had failed to get on the board all week long, but their impressive last-day haul was the best of any vessel for the whole tournament.

No Problem, for the first time in this tournament, failed to tag and release any marlin on the final day, but their consistency throughout the week saw them awarded the V/X Rum and Appleton Rums 2006 Trophy.

A total of 11 marlin were tagged and released in the final day of competition, bringing the total of the tournament to 34 - three shy of last year's total.

Other vessels tagging marlin on the final day of competition were Wahoo with two and Safe Passage, Incentive, Precious Cargo, Touch of Class and Speculation with one each.

Overall, Intrepid and Tassy Wassy occupied the second spot with three each, while Safe Passage, Touch of Class, Wahoo, Precious Cargo, Asdip and Running Over finished with two.

Bye Pass, Daddy's Dream, Speculation, ZZZouks, Dianna, La Nadine, Incentive, One Love and White Diamond finished up with one each.
