22 Reasons We Like Flair
published: Monday | October 9, 2006

For 22 years, The Gleaner's FlairMagazine has been your constant companion as the leading female magazine that also caters to men at the end of each month with our men's issues.

As we celebrate our 22nd anniversary, we are hotter than ever. For the entire month of October, we will give you not 10 but 22 reasons why you should continue reading the Flair Magazine.

So continue to age gracefully with us as we celebrate our 22nd anniversary giving you the best in 22 years.

This week, we spoke with several Flair readers and asked: Why do you like reading the publication.

Michael Drummond, food and beverage/executive chef at Negril Gardens:

It is very informative, provides articles about different people such as those excelling in their special fields.

The articles often provide inspiration to excel.

My wife loves the paper.

Clint Smith, fashion designer

It highlights young talent.

The fashion lets one know what's hip and the who's who of the fashion industry.

The profiles of interesting women and men.

Deidrie Hudson, National Farm Queen:

The articles about the triumphs of various people.

The health facts for and about women.

The presentation and layout of the magazine.

Silvera Castro, civil registrar of marriages

Its variety of features such as weddings and profiles of Jamaican greats.

It's community-based; the ordinary man can pick it up and see someone from his parish or community.

I enjoy reading the sex and relationship issues about how to relate to a woman.

Kereene Johnson, owner of Pitter, Patter Nursery in Kingston:

Flair hasis informative articles such as how to take care of face and skin

There are interesting articles about people of all walks of life.

It helps me to relax.

Ricky Chin, CEO Ricardo Chin Production Services Limited:

It is not the regular type of journalism. There is an ease of how the articles are 'dressed up' and 'sugar coated' which is positive.

The magazine brings a degree of optimism and makes you wonder if you are part of the same place where this is coming from.

It is a decent tabloid, not vulgar.

Nordia Gordon, 25, customer representative:

It is a creative magazine that speaks to current and topical issues. It is interesting, attracts youthful minds and it's easy to read.

Verona Thomas, over 40, assistant accountant:

I like Flair because of the Happenings feature. It lets me know what is going on. Plus it helps me find something interesting to do. Maybe it could have a little more space. I also like the wedding articles; maybe because I am not married it gives me hope.

Sharon Feanny, 41, owner Shakti Mind Body Fitness Centre:

It is informative, interesting, current and gives me information I need.

Kimone Wisdom, 24, features writer:

It deals with issues that women are interested in and it's entertaining. Ricardo Makyn/Staff Photographer
