The Boys' Town Red Brigade snatched their first win of the Wray and Nephew National Premier League season in fine style, when they came from a goal down to scorch Seba 3-1 at the Collie Smith sports ground yesterday.

A brilliant second half display by Boys' Town target man George Vernal, in which he netted a brace with 65th and 74th minute goals, not only had hundreds of the Boys' Town faithfuls on hand leaping for joy, but broke the spell of four consecutive ties to start the season.

"We haven't been winning games, but we've played all our games so far with character and the win was always coming," said an elated Boys' Town coach Andrew Price.

A good day

"Today was a good day to get all three points. We went behind early in the game, but we came out a lot better in the second half and basically ran this Seba team to the ground," added Price, whose team moved into third place on seven points.

Delroy Ellis had been the man to put Boys' Town behind early, as he was left free to tap in his attempt a yard from the goal line in the 10th minute. Ellis was the beneficiary of a cross from Wilfred Smith, who himself managed to break away after a mix-up between Boys' Town defenders Xavian Virgo and Daemion Benjamin. However, firmly in control of the game at one goal up, Seba never looked the same team coming out for the second half.

"I think the team decided to go out in the second half and play the way that they wanted to play," said a disappointed Geoffrey Maxwell, coach of Seba.

"We knew what we were supposed to do, we didn't follow instructions. Boys' Town took advantage of a very indisciplined Seba performance, congratulations to them."

Maxwell's team was losing its fourth straight game.
