Three Jamaican dream girls returned to the stage on Sunday at the Hilton hotel for Ebony Reunited: Back Together Again. It was an extra special night for the group who re-launched on the eve of the night they started 24 years ago.
Claudette Miller-Robinson, Patricia Carty-Edwards and Connie Edwards delighted the audience with their outstanding vocals in an unforgettable performance at the Hilton Ballroom.
With a beautiful stage decorated with pink, silver and purple stars on a black background, the crowd was primed and ready for great performances. The show started an hour late but did not disappoint patrons. As Emcee Norma Brown Bell announced 'back together again after six years', Dance Xpressions took to the stage and prepped the crowd for the
entrance of the ladies who came out wearing matching black and gold costumes.
Ebony came on stage backed by Dean Fraser and his band with a vibrant spirit singing I'm so
excited, followed by other disco numbers. They then slowed the pace with a rendition of Celine Dion's Think Twice. The faithful number of patrons that turned out, embraced the ladies sweet voices. The pace was soon increased with Dance Xpressions, returning to the stage to dance during Ebony's performance of Disco Inferno.
Georgia Henry was the first of the night's many guest performers and she wowed the crowd with a strong rendition of I love you. Gem Myers was next singing I miss you like Crazy.
Soul for Soul, a suave young male group, stuck to the high
performance standard doing Junior Gong's Road to Zion and Shaggy's Strength of a woman.
The audience received a run down of each Ebony group member, which was followed by spectacular solo pieces. Connie with her dark husky voice sang What we do for love, followed by Miller-Robinson singing Neither of us want to say goodbye. Patricia wrapped up the segment with
I'm living without you in a
performance that received a
standing ovation.
Karen Smith, one of the island's most sought after cabaret singers, was next, followed by newcomer A'Lisa. Ebony returned after these performances with R&B numbers including Beyonce's Crazy in Love and John Legend's Cloud Nine. Patricia's son, Singer Jae, proved his vocal skills by doing a few tunes too.
As the concert reached its fourth hour, there was a mini fashion show featuring designs from Barry Moncriefe, Pablo Palair, Uzuri International and featuring Jamaica's first super model Althea Lang.
The long-awaited special guest artiste Marcia Griffiths looked heavenly decked out in full white as she gave an impromptu performance with Bob Andy. After a final set, Ebony gave tribute to Griffiths, their special heroine, and awarded her for her many years of service.
