Dr Reid resigns from National Road Operating and Construction Company (NROCC) - Former NWA boss acting as CEO
published: Wednesday | October 18, 2006

Tyrone Reid, Enterprise Reporter

Dr. Wayne Reid has resigned his post as managing director/CEO of the National Road Operating and Construction Company (NROCC).

Dr. Reid told The Gleaner yesterday that as CEO of NROCC, he endured much stress and had many sleepless nights.

"I think it is time I go home, lie down in my bed and rest," he said with a chuckle.

Ivan Anderson, former CEO at the National Works Agency, is acting in the post of managing director. Reid's resignation came silently at the end of September. Dr. Reid said his silent departure is in keeping with the manner in which he conducted himself as CEO of NROCC. "So I came, so I go. There is nothing big about it." He continued: "I tried at all times to accomplish my job without fanfare."

Several sleepless nights

Dr. Reid, who was with NROCC when it became operational in February 2002, said the stint at the state-owned company was marked by several sleepless nights.

Dr. Reid was the first managing director/CEO of NROCC, which acts as guarantors of the Highway 2000 project.

While the 61-year-old engineer has resigned from NROCC, he has not retired, as he still functions as a director at Jentech Consultants Limited.

Dr. Reid told The Gleaner yesterday that his resignation, which took effect on September 30, was him making good on a pledge to leave NROCC after the completion of phase 1A of the Highway 2000 project, which includes the Sandy Bay and Portmore legs.

At the same time, Dr. Reid holds the punctual completion of the Sandy Bay, Clarendon to Mandela Highway, St. Catherine leg of the Highway 2000 project as his single greatest achievement as CEO of NROCC.
