District constables to be trained under new modernisation programme

WESTERN BUREAU:

District constables are to undergo specialised training as part of a modernisation programme by the United District Constables Association. The announcement was made by the association's president, Horald Francis, at an awards ceremony in Santa Cruz on the weekend.

He said that district constables will receive training in the area of general policing, community-based policing, traffic management and law enforcement activities at the Jamaica Police Academy.

District Constables Nathan McLean, Wilburn Gordon and Sydney Arthurs were recognised at the function for their contribution ranging from 20 to 35 years' service to the Santa Cruz police area. Groundsman Roy Williams was recognised for his over 20 years contribution to the Santa Cruz Police Station.

The announcement was made by the association's president, Horald Francis, at an awards ceremony in Santa Cruz.
