Bank manager on larceny charge remanded
published: Friday | October 20, 2006

A bank branch manager, who is charged with larceny of a motor car, appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court, on Wednesday, and was remanded in custody until October 30.

He is 29-year-old Richard Longmore, who is a manager at Pan Caribbean Merchant Bank, Mandeville branch, in Manchester.

When Longmore appeared in court, the police opposed bail on the basis that they were conducting further investigations. Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey remanded Longmore.

Toyota corolla motor car

He was arrested two weeks ago in connection with the theft of a Toyota Corolla motor car. He is also charged with receiving stolen property and conspiracy to steal.

It is alleged that policemen from the Elleston Road Police Station conducting investigations into reports received in connection with the motor car arrested and charged Longmore. Attorney-at-law, Christopher Townsend, in making a bail application, said that when Longmore purchased the motor car he had no knowledge that it was stolen.

Mr. Townsend said Longmore was very co-operative with the police and was assisting them to find the person who sold him the car.
