Westmoreland Circuit Court opens

WESTERN BUREAU:

The Westmoreland Circuit Court opened at the Savanna-la-Mar courthouse on Tuesday with 35 cases listed for mention before Justice Lennox Campbell.

There are 21 new cases and the others were traversed from former sittings. Rape heads the list, with 10 cases, ahead of nine murders. There are five cases of carnal abuse, four wounding with intent, and three manslaughter cases.

There is one case each for incest, gross indecency, arson and assault occasioning bodily harm.

The court opened with a march past and general salute by the Jamaica Constabulary Force to Justice Campbell, and custos of the parish, the Hon. Owen Sinclair.
