Ja All-Stars XI crush SuperClubs

Daren Powell ... claimed three wickets in two overs. - File

A JAMAICA All-Stars XI crushed a SuperClubs' Invitational XI by 163 runs at Kaiser Sports Club in Discovery Bay on Friday. West Indies pacer Daren Powell snatched three wickets in two overs while Jimmy Adams and Gareth Breese hit half centuries for the All-Stars.

Batting first, Delroy Morgan was bowled by Sean Banton for one in the first over, but Breese came in and made a sparkling 83 with seven fours and five sixes before he too was dismissed.

Former West Indies captain Adams, batting at No. 6, scored 67 not out with nine fours and two sixes and Andre Coley scored 34 not out, which included three fours and one six.

Pick of bowlers

Fast bowler Kenneth Randall, who bowled Wayne Lewis for 13 at 37 for two, was the pick of the SuperClubs' bowlers with 2-15 off five overs.

Mario Ventura, who batted at No. 3 made 37 with five fours before he was caught by Damion Samuels off Damion Davidson.

In reply, the SuperClubs XI were bowled out for 129 in 32.3 overs with all-rounder Sean Banton, batting at No. 7, hitting 70 with six fours and one six before he was stumped by Coley off Lewis's bowling.

Trevor Vanhorne made 20 before he was trapped leg before by Courtney Walsh, who was bowling leg spin.

Powell, who is gearing up for the coming Test tour of Pakistan, led the bowling with 3-7 off two overs. Former West Indies players Maurice Foster and Nehemiah Perry with 2-10 and 2-8 respectively supported Powell.
