Talbert, Martin race away with top titles

TALBERT

WAINARD TALBERT of Lion Heart Track Club and Areita Martin of G.C. Foster College raced away with the top titles at last weekend's Credit Union 5K run at Independence Park.

Talbert topped the male section in 15:29.0 seconds ahead of UTech's Andre Drummond (15:47.0) and Rupert Green, who has so far had a poor Grand Prix Series (16:03.0).

Joshua Davis (16:17.0) and Richard Barrett (16:25.0), both of JDF Credit Union; Zavion DaCosta (16:41.0), Lawrence Mendez (17:08.0), Dwayne Powell (17:24.0), Andrew Gutzmore (17:44.0) and Kirkel Brown (17:54.0) rounded off the top 10.

In the female section, which was missing 'Queen of the Road' Natoya Goule of Manchester High, Martin took change in 19:27.

Karlene Blagrove (20:19.0), Indra Moore (23:06.0), Ann-Marie Shaw (24.04.0), Llewylyn Johnson (26:41.0), Ayanna Samuels (26:41.0), Catherine Stewart (26:52.0), Eileen Boxhill (28:18.0), Keisha Williams of Calerndon Co-Operative Credit Union (28:33.0) and Imogine Reid (30:00.0) completed the top 10 female finishers.

The next race in the Grand Prix Series, the Ministry of Health 5K will be held on November 12 at Emancipation Park.

Talbert and Goule lead the standings with 42 points each.

Kemoy Williams of Bellefield (38), Drummond (36), Phillip Edwards of JDF (32) and Kevin Campbell of Lion Heart Track Club (32) are the other main contenders in the men's section.

In the female division, Goule leads Tanice Bennett of UWI (36), Tamica Thomas of G.C. Foster (35), Teneisha Davis of Vere (33) and Rosemarie Aldridge of Bellefield (30).<
