WESTERN BUREAU:
An alleged 'lone robber' who got nearly $4,000 from banking establishments in Montego Bay, St. James, by presenting a note demanding money and claiming that he is with armed accomplices, was arrested yesterday.
The 45-year-old man was reportedly nabbed about 11:30 a.m. by motorised patrol police at Fontana Pharmacy at the Fairview Shopping Centre in the
western city.

He has been held on suspicion of robbery and will face identification parades.
"Four financial institutions are involved in the scam," said Superintendent Warren Clarke, commanding officer for the St. James Police Division. "What he does is to go to the teller at these institutions with a note demanding money and threatening to use force."
"We had the area under surveillance as we suspected that he would show up and (he) was nabbed when he came and tried to carry out the prank," Clarke said.
It is understood that the suspect has been pulling off the scam over a two-week period. His success rate has been minimal as for his most recent effort on Wednesday, he only got $150.
