The Editor, Sir:
I am genuinely asking if we are at the end of the Trafigura oil slick as yet? I have read and read, listened and watched as much of the coverage on this matter as any other Jamaican. It is without doubt a sticky matter. Many people - including the Prime Minister - I am sure would have preferred if the whole thing never happened.
The Jamaica Labour Party at the start of it appeared to have been on to something big. They have however lost my support on the matter when I heard the Leader of the Opposition has failed to heed calls to disclose party funding.
I also recall that while he led the National Democratic Movement there were issues raised that are still unresolved about the financials of that party. It may result that Mr. Golding has shot his own credibility beyond repair on this one.
All that aside I watched Raymond Pryce (Patriots) and Christopher Tufton (G2K) on CVM's Direct yesterday. Though Tufton dominated the programme, sadly there was much less value to his points.
Pryce on the other hand has done the best of any of the spokespersons from the PNP in addressing the issue to date.
His response as to why the Prime Minister instructed that the money be returned was well expressed. The Prime Minister's credibility on the issue remains intact!
On a personal observation - Golding needs to behave more like the parliamentarian and less like he has been all year long.
I am, etc.,
