AMERICAN DON, running at odds of 3-1 under champion jockey Brian Harding, wins the sixth race over the straight five course at Caymanas Park on Wednesday by 2 1/2 lengths from the front-running CAT-UD-RAY (out of pic). Despite upset wins by TOO HOT TO TROT (16-1) and MAGIC DRAGON (8-1) at Caymanas Park on Wednesday, the Super-6 was caught by three punters, but the Pick-9 had no takers.

The Pick-9 offers a carryover of $1 million, while the Super-6 starts anew with its guaranteed minimum of $500,000. We look at the Super-6 which embraces races five to 10, beginning with a $240,000 - $220,000 claiming race over 1500 metres to be contested by 11 starters.

Clearly the one to beat is DORALDO who scored an overdue victory at 1700 metres on October 14 and although hiked in the weights, should be good enough to repeat at the expense of NIJINSKY'S WAR and THE MINISTER, both dropped in class.

One of the more open races on the card is the sixth to be contested by 12 starters (non winners of three) over 1200 metres. The main hopefuls are SHE'S A MAVERICK who is without a victory this season, ROYAL SPEED, LUVABLE, VELOCITY, ANOTHER RANKING, SIXTH SENSE and STEAD GOLD who was second to DORALDO in better company last time out.

STEAD GOLD is still very much at home over this trip and along with Trevor Simpson's mount, ANOTHER RANKING, VELOCITY and the one-eye mare LUVABLE should decide the outcome.

Pick at the weights

The Richie Phillipps-trained LUVABLE could well prove the pick at the weights with only 48.0kg following her close fifth to TYRONE SON over 1400 metres on September 16, a race in which she was a close second a furlong out.

Fleet-footed EXPLOSIVE PEAK should not be caught the seventh race over 1100 metres to be contested by five starters, while the same is true of FIWI EMBLEM in the eighth where he should lead home BANJUHAR and SIR KHAN.

Then, take ROYAL RUN to atone for his near miss to MONEY DANCER over 1500 metres in a fast-run race on September 30 by winning the ninth and close the programme with the recent runaway winner FREE FALL in the nightpan.
