published: Monday | October 30, 2006

SPANISH TOWN, St. Catherine:

Several children and their parents turned out for Saturday's launch of a No-Smoking Campaign put on by the Smoke-Free Action Coalition.

The function was held at Cecil's Restaurant in Spanish Town and was put on by a group in collaboration with the Ministry of Health.

According to experts, 30 out of every 100 cancer-related deaths worldwide are associated with smoking.

The group, which is headed by Rosemarie Green of Spanish Town, said the aim of the campaign is to bring resource persons on board in order to strengthen the resolve of persons who are somehow addicted to nicotine.
