Serving as a 'vessel of honour for Jesus Christ'
published: Tuesday | October 31, 2006

Among the passengers boarding this Jamaica Urban Transit Company bus might be a roving evangelist who will take them en route to salvation as they commute. - Ian Allen/Staff Photographer

"The Lord has used me to minister to many persons. I reside in His word and have walked in obedience as a Christian for six years now. I began ministering two weeks after I received the Lord. I have always been travelling on the bus and I had a compelling desire to share my testimony."

These are the words of a man who prefers to be referred to as 'Vessel of Honour for Jesus Christ.'

This individual who works in the insurance industry, continues: "I minister mostly about God's redemption and salvation, offer blessings and a challenge and encourage persons to accept Jesus.

Commissioned by Christ

"My ministry touches many. Though there are persons who will rebel, I understand the theory of the Bible's only two authorities - God's delegated authority enforced by the power of the Holy Spirit and Satan's authority enforced by witchcraft. So people will always want to rebel, and refuse to accept the word of God, but I am commissioned by Christ and many respond in a positive way, though many don't.

"I pray in advance for those naysayers. I have always challenged persons to accept Christ and I have seen it happen.

"While living in Stony Hill, I had a serious challenge travelling on the coaster buses. I found it difficult to walk in obedience with the behaviour of the drivers and conductors as well as some passengers.

Assaulted by a conductor

"I recall an incident where the conductor actually punched me!

"He and the driver were determined to remove me from the vehicle, but I was determined to stay. So I prayed aloud: 'God I stand in the power and authority of your great name. I commit the driver and the conductor to your hands!'

"When I arrived at my destination, I felt an overwhelming love and compassion towards the driver and the conductor, though I had been wronged. This all occurred on a Friday.

"The following Tuesday as I stood at the bus stop, a coaster pulled up alongside me to pick me up. It was the same driver. The Lord has taught me humility and I kindly asked the driver to allow me to give a word of prayer, as I felt a strong anointing that morning.

"The anointing of God was flowing so powerfully that many people accepted Jesus Christ on that bus.

"Sometimes as Christians we go through testing which strengthens our faith and resolve in Christ.

"Persons offer me money but I refuse it. I have never accepted any donation. God has already put me in a wonderful job and I don't want anyone's money, just for them to accept the Lord Jesus Christ. For those who do request money, it is not for me to judge them."
