THE EDITOR, Sir:
Bruce Golding admittedly is a brilliant man. But he is a vain politician. His ego told him he has matured to the extent where he should no longer be behind anyone; he should be at the head.
So desperate was he, he couldn't wait for Mr. Seaga to step down as leader of the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) and pass leadership to him. He had to go and form the National Democratic Movement. Encountering turbulent seas, he jumped ship leaving the poor myopic crew he himself handpicked, to navigate for themselves. The poor souls are still adrift with their former leader campaigning hard to ensure they drown rather than land in the safe harbour of Parliament. Vintage Mr. Golding.
With Mr. Seaga still holding on to leadership of the JLP, Bruce returned, and this time really, Seaga had to go to make way for him as leader. Now he is a leader of the JLP, Golding thinks that's not enough. He must be leader of the country, like right now.
Patience, Bruce, patience. Elections have not yet been called. Your desperation is too glaring for comfort. Let's hope it does not lead to what obtained in the period leading up to the 1980 General Election.
I am, etc.,
