published: Thursday | November 2, 2006

The trial of Jeremy Chen, general manager of Super Plus Food Stores, and four supervisors, who are charged in connection with the alleged beating of two other employees, is set to begin in the Gun Court on November 20.

The trial date was set yesterday when the men appeared before Mr. Justice Martin Gayle (acting). They are all on bail.

The other accused are Rayon Lindo, Garth Fagan, Fabian Foster and Ainsley Henry.

Charges

They are charged with kidnapping, illegal possession of firearm, unlawful wounding, assault occasioning grievous bodily harm and assault at common law.

The allegations are that in January this year the employees were taken from the supermarket in Mandeville, Manchester, to premises about a mile away where they were beaten after being accused of stealing three cases of alcoholic beverage.
