Intermittent showers and strong breeze could not prevent the installation ceremony of the Kiwanis clubs of St. Thomas and Morant Bay last Sunday.
The venue, Link's Café poolside in Yallahs, St. Thomas, had a brisk breeze sweeping through and taking away programmes and table napkins. However, the Kiwanians were
resolute in hosting their installation.
Lieutenant Governor Willie Reason led the ceremony and installed the board of officers, directors and their presidents, Elaine Tucker and Everald Roye, of St. Thomas and Morant Bay, respectively.
In her president's address, Ms. Tucker promised to increase the club's visibility and service within the parish. Mr. Roye also assured the gathering that Morant Bay club will continue moving on to greatness.
Mutual support
Kiwanians from 10 clubs, including Constant Spring, Stony Hill and Central St. Andrew, were present to provide support for the clubs' installation.
Immediate past president (IPP) sheril Hall-Taylor of St. Thomas club awarded president Elaine as Kiwanian of the Year, and Rookie of the Year went to secretary Chereisse Dixon. Kiwanian of the Year for Morant Bay club was given to secretary Carlette Francis by IPP Michael James.
