PNP two candidates shy for polls
published: Tuesday | November 7, 2006

General Secretary of the People's National Party (PNP), Donald Buchanan, says the party has now signed off on 58 of the 60 candidates who will run in the upcoming general election constitutionally due before the end of 2007.

Mr. Buchanan told The Gleaner yesterday that only North Central Clarendon and Western Portland remain without candidates.

Doreen Forbes last week withdrew as candidate for Western Portland and this has left the party searching for a suitable replacement while former veteran Member of Parliament George Lyn will not be able to run on the party's ticket in North Central Clarendon due to illness.

Mr. Buchanan said efforts were also being made to find a candidate for North Central Clarendon.

The Jamaica Labour Party says it has its full slate of candidates.
