Maldon sink a double
published: Tuesday | November 7, 2006

Western Bureau:

Maldon High School started their campaign in the 2006-07 ISSA/KFC Western High School Baskeball League with a bang when both their junior and senior teams emerged victorious over Cornwall College in the season's two opening games at the Montego Bay Cricket Club Courts.

In the Under-16 game, the Maldon Junior team bounced back after trailing in the first three quarters to win by a close 38-36 margin, while in the Under-19 game Maldon were quite awesome in registering a 51-33 win.

Prior to the start of the opening game, the 10 competing schools paraded in a colourful opening ceremony in which the players were addressed by ISSA official Dr. Walton Small, who implored them to maintain the highest levels of discipline and sportsmanship.

Unlike last year when there were only five schools, this year's competition will feature 10 teams due to the entry of newcomers Irwin, Spot Valley and Holland High School and the return of Grange Hill and Cedric Titus.
