Village edge Naggo Head
published: Thursday | November 9, 2006

FALMOUTH, Trelawny:

OMAR ALLEN'S 36th-minute strike gave Village a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Naggo Head in their bottom-place encounter in the Wray and Nephew National Premier League at the Elliston Wakeland Centre yesterday.

It was as if the ball begged to be scored as the scorer erred when he chested the ball down on to an upright. The second error came when keeper Winston Robinson failed to capitalise on the mistake to get to the ball which rebounded into the path of Allen, who scored.

Village had the more clear-cut chances but did not capitalise while Naggo Head controlled the midfield and, if they had a true striker, Village could have been in trouble.

Winning assistant coach, Cassman Williams, said: "I am glad for the three points but we missed too many chances."

The no-nonsense assistant coach said that due to disciplinary reasons five of the usual starters were not used as they missed training. He stressed that discipline had to be maintained.
