Media baby 'Milk' all grown up
published: Friday | November 10, 2006

Amelia 'Milk' Sewell - Contributed

You have seen her on CVM-TV as host of 'The Hit List'. Amelia 'Milk' Sewell produces 'On Stage' and 'The Party', and occasionally serves as guest host on 'Our Voices'.

The Gleaner: How did you get started in the media?

Milk: I used to be on Errol 'ET' Thompson's children show on JBC Radio. I was also one of the original members of 103 FM. I met Winford Williams at UWI carnival in 2001 and I told him he needs a new look for his thing. I told him that person is me.

The Gleaner : What is your dream job?

Milk: I am in my dream job. The only thing I would add is radio.

The Gleaner: Have you always known you want work in the media?

Milk: I have a great love for music. My mother and father were friends with Spoggy and we would go to his parties. My cousin, David Heron, also helped me to see the wicked personality I have. It was from those days.

The Gleaner: What is your best moment working in the media.

Milk: There is not one specific moment. I am living in the moment.

The Gleaner: Have you been faced with negative remarks?

Milk: I always go out by myself. Because of that people always wonder how comes they don't see me with a man. They want to know if I like girls or guys. I have a boyfriend and he is the liquid in my milk.

The Gleaner: Where did the name Milk come from?

Milk: That's a long story for another article.

The Gleaner: If not television or radio, what would you be doing?

Milk: I am a aesthetician by profession and I used to have a spa beside Peppers. I still do it on the weekend because my clients don't want to go anywhere else.

The Gleaner: What is your favourite shows?

Milk: 'Survivor', 'America's Next Top Model' and 'Amazing Race'. I like 'Amazing Race' because it is well produced.

The Gleaner: Who is your favourite television personality?

Milk: Dave Chapelle and Ellen Degeneres. Oprah is also running close third.

The Gleaner: What is one thing that people would be surprised to know about you?

Milk: I am a mother and great mother.
