LAHORE, Pakistan (AP):

WEST INDIES all-rounder Dwayne Bravo smashed a timely century yesterday in a drawn two-day warm-up match against a Pakistan Cricket Board Patron's XI.

Bravo hit two sixes and 15 boundaries in his 108-run knock, as the West Indies made 279 for five in their first innings in reply to the Patron's XI score of 305 for four declared.

Bravo retired in the afternoon session to allow the other West Indies batsmen some practice in the only tour match game ahead of tomorrow's first Test against Pakistan.

"It's my first tour to Pakistan and surely it will boost my confidence ahead of the Test matches," Bravo said.

Test opener Daren Ganga (42) and Ramnaresh Sarwan (29) also spent some useful time at the crease, but captain Brian Lara opted not to bat. Ganga gave a catch in the slips while Sarwan was caught behind after hitting six boundaries.

Wanted to see Lara

"I was expecting him (Lara) to bat, but I was surprised he chose otherwise," said Patron's XI captain Asim Kamal. "He is my favourite player, but I couldn't see him in action."

Bravo said Lara wanted other younger players in the side to make use of the batting opportunity.

"He's (Lara) a different class player and he wanted other boys in the team to get maximum practice ahead of Saturday's Test," Bravo said.

The Patron's XI declared their first innings at the overnight score of 305 for four and Ganga added 50 runs for the first wicket with Runako Morton (21). Morton was bowled by Shahid Nazir - expected to figure in the first Test for Pakistan in the absence of two banned fast bowlers Shoaib Akhtar and Mohammad Asif.

Bravo added 120 with Lendl Simmons (40) for the fourth wicket before he retired after facing 114 balls in his brilliant century.
