Take Queen Of My Heart

MAMBO, ridden by star apprentice, Andre Martin, storms through in mid-track to win the sixth race over 1,500 metres at Caymanas Park, last Saturday, recording his third win from his past four starts. MAMBO won at generous odds of 10-1. - Ricardo Makyn/Staff Photographer.

Tomorrow's 'Superday' programme at Caymanas Park offers 12 races with a post time of 11:00 a.m.

Both the Pick-9 and Super-6 exotic bets offer attractive carryovers. The Pick-9, having eluded punters for the past four racedays, boasts $1.65 million, while the Super-6 has $718,181.00 in the kitty.

The card will be highlighted by the 28 running of the $4.25 million Red Stripe Superstakes over 2000 metres for native bred three-year-olds and up, this being the 11th race to be run at approximately 4:30 p.m.

Other major races on the card are the $2 million Red Stripe Caribbean Sprint, $1.5 million Red Stripe Mile for imported horses, $1.5 million Red Stripe 2-Y-O Breeders Stakes over 1400 metres and the opening Red Stripe Draught over 1400 metres for overnight allowance horses.

The card will also facilitate the fourth staging of the US$3,000 Red Stripe Jockeys' Challenge to be conducted on four selected races. Four overseas-based jockeys (including two women) will join 10 local riders in quest of the US$1,500 first prize, including last year's winner, Wesley Henry.

The Pick-9 embraces races four to 12; the Super-6 seven to 12. We look at the Super-6, which gets under way with the Red Stripe 2-Y-O Breeders Stakes to be contested by 11 starters.

Impressive winner

The Wayne DaCosta-trained STRONG HOPE was such an impressive winner (storming through a furlong out) from TOOT DI HOOT and MUCHO GUSTO in the valuable Cash Pot Only One For Me Trophy (7th race) over 1200 metres on October 14 that he ought to be followed, even moreso given the additional 200 metres. STRONG HOPE (working well) should lead home his unbeaten stable-companion MARK TO MARKET and Brian Harding's mount, MUCHO GUSTO, now administered Lasix.

Briefly, the DaCosta-trained QUEEN OF MY HEART looks hard to oppose in the eighth race, while it should be the recent fast-time None Such Trophy winner, RAMPAGE, in the 9th, the Caribbean Sprint. Then, take SAMMY MY GIRL to stave off YAHABIBI and SIR CHARLES in the 10th for $160,000 claimers, the outstanding MIRACLE MAN (who bids for his 10th straight win) in the Superstakes, and recent winner, GUIDING LIGHT, ahead of TOBAGO, SATISFIER and SIR KHAN in the nightpan.
