The Hampden Post Office is now open for service. Located in the community of Bounty Hall in Trelawny, the post office serves both communities as well as surrounding areas.
Member of Parliament for Northern Trelawny, Dr Patrick Harris, had established the major components of the building, and COMPLANT, the Chinese construction firm responsible for erecting the nearby Trelawny multi-purpose stadium, completed the structure and did all finishing work as a gift to the community.
Guest Speaker, Phillip Paulwell, the Minister of Industry, Technology, Energy and Commerce who has portfolio responsibility for the postal service, highlighted the benefits of Chinese involvement in Jamaica, and the potential for further alliance between the citizens of both countries.
He thanked the representative from the Chinese Embassy, Hao Yongjiang, as well as the general manager of COMPLANT, Kevin Chen, for their dedication to the project.
In his address, Minister Paulwell shared his vision for the integration of Internet services at postal facilities in order to make this communications technology available to communities islandwide.
The new post office at Bounty Hall replaces the postal agency there. Citizens receiving mail at this post office are reminded to address their mail as Hampden PO, Trelawny.
