It was a doggie love affair at the Jamaica Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (JSPCA) annual Doggie Fashion Show and Wine and Cheese Party held at Guardsman, off Old Hope Road last Saturday night.

Prancing or simply sitting, the pooches looked fabulous in adorable 'doggie couture'.

The fashion show is an annual charity event organised by the JSPCA to raise funds for abandoned and maltreated pets.

Now in its second year, the show brought a number of laughs and love to the patrons in attendance.

Hosted by Jennifer 'Jenny Jenny' Small, the event featured work by Barry Moncrieffe, noted local fashion designer, who offered his services for the occasion.

Cries of 'aahs' rang out as models Nicole and Matthew, carried two pups down the runway and pleaded for someone to adopt them.

Stand-out pets

One of the stand-out pets was a Yorkshire Terrier in a red and white frilly dress designed by Moncrieffe.

Who says only the master can go out looking chic, as Melissa and Cookie showcased matching leopard skin designs.

Donovan and Argos certainly thrilled, as the white boxer dog wore a fitted vest. An Indian girl and her cowboy trotted out, dressed to kill, with the handler fully decked out as an Indian and the dog Shabby was looking far from it in his cowboy hat.

Krystal and Snow proceeded to stun and dazzle in matching black sequinned outfits. Melissa and Cookie came out again, this time dressed as a gypsy girl, with her pet in a shimmering aqua gypsy costume as well.

Flamingo dance

Cuban fitness instructor Tanya showed off her beautiful macaw parrot, after which she proceeded to display a bit of her culture, performing a flamingo dance. Another pet that really cracked up the audience was Samson, a Doberman Pinscher who came out in Irie wear, red green and gold, with a Rasta hat, dreadlocked and all.

Wendy showed off her handsome Labrador Harold who was dressed to the tee in a black and white tuxedo.

Then it was time for the emperor and the empress to rule, as Barry and Ed, an old Husky who is the oldest dog in the show, wore a King's crown. The empress, a Doberman, strutted, in fine Egyptian gold. The patrons certainly enjoyed themselves as the night went on. There were many booths set up for sampling of sumptuous food and drinks from Tru Juice, Buccaneer, Busha Brown and more.
