Soldiers who died in World Wars I and II were on Sunday remembered for their bravery during a Remembrance Day Parade, held at the National Heroes Park.

Governor-General Professor Kenneth Hall, members of Government and the diplomatic corps, Kingston Mayor Desmond McKenzie and others laid wreaths in remembrance of those who served during the wars.

At 11:00 a.m., two minutes of silence were observed. The beginning and end of silence was indicated by a gun salute.

In 1918, on the 11th hour of the 11th day in the 11th month, an armistice was signed, signalling the end of World War 1. Remembrance Day is celebrated on the Sunday closest to November 11.
