Teenager deported from UK
published: Tuesday | November 14, 2006

A Jamaican member of an armed street gang which robbed people, has been sentenced to life in prison and deportation from the United Kingdom.

Robert Lincoln, 18, who lives in Barking, East London, was told that he should serve at least 14 years before deportation. Two other gang members from Rwanda and Portugal were also given life and ordered to be deported while a fourth was given a lesser sentence but also ordered to be deported.

All four pleaded guilty.

During sentencing the judge told the men that they were "addicted to violence", treating their victims as if they were "characters in a video game".

From September to December last year, the gang abducted strangers from the street before stealing their valuables and bank cards. Those who resisted revealing their PIN numbers were threatened with guns and knives and viciously beaten.
