Stand strong
published: Wednesday | November 15, 2006

The Editor, Sir:

Allow me to express my disgust at these politicians and the disregard they show to the media.

Mr. Alvin McIntosh's utterance on the Power 106 evening programme on Friday in regards to the front page story regarding irregularities in his ministry, only goes to show the incompetence of the government; and with no confidence in the opposition party my hope in knowing the truth rests solely at the feet of you reporters to expose the truth.

I would be disappointed if the directors and managers of The Gleaner get cold feet because of the threats of politicians and not give their reporters the support that is needed.

This particular story on the Haitians is incomplete and I am sure the Permanent Secretary's prayer is that the reporter does no more digging. There were too many holes in his account of the story.

Mr. McIntosh you were disrespectful to freelance reporters, who will always be committed to revealing the truth.

I am a retired freelance journalist who has served throughout the world.

We need more investigative reporters. Stand strong, Gleaner.

I am, etc,.
